Plan Your Experience
The Vermont Mozart Festival is much more than a chamber music concert! The grounds at most outdoor sites open 1 ½ to 2 hours before the concert begins so that patrons can enjoy the beautiful Vermont vistas, picnic suppers and enjoy time with family and friends. If you have never been to the Vermont Mozart Festival before, you may find some of this information helpful.
Chairs and Blankets
The Vermont Mozart Festival does not provide seating at the outdoor concerts so patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and/or chairs. So that everyone can enjoy and see outdoor concerts, the area nearest the stage will be designated for patrons sitting on blankets only. Patrons in chairs with low legs and backs (maximum total height 28") will be asked to sit behind the patrons on blankets. Patrons with chairs higher than 28" will be asked to sit behind the patrons in low chairs. If you have any questions once you are at the concerts, one of our volunteers will be happy to help you find a place to sit and answer your questions.
Picnics
The Vermont Mozart Festival encourages people to bring picnics to the outdoor concerts. However, cooking fires are not permitted. Patrons are permitted to bring both soft and alcoholic beverages. Generally there are no opportunities to purchase food or beverage at the concert sites. If you don't have the time to pack your own picnic dinner, there are several good delis that can help including Harvest Market in Stowe, Fresh Market in Burlington and Cheese Outlet and Wine Sellers in South Burlington.
Picnics range from simple wine and cheese and crackers to the very elaborate. Bring whatever you are comfortable with.
Lodging
Make the Vermont Mozart Festival part of your vacation get away. There are plenty of lodging opportunities near all of our concerts. As a matter of fact, many of our concerts are at resorts or inns. You might want to enjoy an evening at the Inn at Shelburne Farms. Or if you are attending one of our concerts at the Trapp Family Meadow, the Trapp Family Resort is a great place to enjoy "A little bit of Austria and a lot of Vermont". The Essex is a culinary gem in addition to being a wonderful place to stay. Be sure to visit the Essex Shoppes and Cinema when you're in the area. The Vermont Chamber of Commerce, Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Stowe Area Association can also help with other lodging opportunities.
Additional Provisions
While the Festival does not ordinarily experience serioius insect problems at its outdoor concerts, bringing insect repellent is good insurance against that happening.
